2025 MLB World Series Odds, Futures: Examining Long Shot, Dark Horse Candidates to Win World Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series last year, and are favorites to win it this year.

Ultimately, the Dodgers have made a splash in Free Agency in consecutive seasons. The Dodgers added Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto last off-season and then fired Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki this season.

It just never ends with the Dodgers. That said, many other teams improved significantly heading into the 2025 season.

While selecting the Dodgers to win the MLB World Series is easy, I'll discuss a few under-the-radar teams that you might want to consider before the season begins.

2025 MLB World Series Picks

New York Mets (+1100) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

Despite adding Juan Soto and retaining Pete Alonso, the Mets are +1100 to win the World Series.

New York began last year's season super slow but rallied back and earned an NL Wild Card spot. That eventually led them to the NLCS, where the Mets lost to the eventual champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Ultimately, the Mets have a terrific lineup that includes Soto, Alonso, Francisco Lindor, Brandon Nimmo, and Mark Vientos. That core can push the Mets very far.

That said, many analysts and fans suggest the Mets' starting rotation is underwhelming. They said that last year, but instead, the Mets turned Sean Manaea and Luis Severino into absolute studs on the mound. Both got huge paydays in the off-season.

The Mets are dangerous!

Texas Rangers (+1900) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

The Texas Rangers have all the pieces to contend this year.

Don't forget that the Rangers won the World Series just a couple of years ago.

They'll have a healthy Jacob deGrom back in the rotation. In addition, the Rangers are filled with young talent that is about to explode.

They've got Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker in the rotation. Meanwhile, they've also got Josh Jung and Wyatt Langford. Both could easily break out this season.

Beyond that, the Rangers added some power bats like Joc Pederson and Jake Burger. That'll help the offense greatly and give Corey Seager, Adolis Garcia, and Marcus Semien some help.

The Rangers are an interesting team this year. At +1900, why not take a chance?

Detroit Tigers (+3000) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

I don't think last year's Tigers team was a fluke.

The Tigers went 31-11 to close out the regular season in 2024 after having a .2% chance of making the playoffs on August 11.

Ultimately, the Tigers took that momentum and made some moves in the offseason to get better. Detroit's pitching rotation includes Jack Flaherty and left phenom Tarik Skubal. The Tigers also added Gleybar Torres at second base and signed Manuel Margot to a deal.

If Spencer Torkelson can develop and Riley Greene can continue his recent surge, Tigers fans and betters will have plenty of reasons to get excited about this season.

This team made the playoffs last year and improved, but they are +3000 to win the World Series. I see value in here.
