AUGUSTA NATIONAL GOLF CLUB OVERVIEW
Augusta National Golf Club is a par 72 that runs 7,555 yards. The fairways are forgiving and wide, comprised of Bermudagrass. It's overseeded with perennial ryegrass to enhance its vibrancy.
The rough is not a huge hazard compared to the length and condition that can be found at other PGA Tour courses. Instead, the undulating terrain and slopes create challenging lies for golfers, even if they hit quality tee shots and approach shots.
Undoubtedly the biggest element to overcome at Augusta National is the fast-paced Bentgrass greens. These tiered greens are lightning-fast, measuring up to 14 feet via Stimpmeter, with a ton of break due to the undulations.
There are four par 3s and four par 5s, including two par 3s and a par 5 in the first six holes on the front-nine. Massive, sprawling sand bunkers are a common theme around the Bentgrass greens. Magnolia and Azalea flowers, Dogwood trees, and other native plants are prevalent as well.
Water hazards exist but they aren't the primary challenge at Augusta National. Overcoming the undulations is key, especially on the quick Bentgrass greens.
2025 Masters Outright Picks
RORY MCILROY (+650) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best Masters odds
Rory McIlroy's epic collapse at the 2011 Masters has haunted him to present day. Northern Ireland's star golfer has won every major except the Masters, which he'll attempt to change this week.
McIlroy has won twice in only five events played on the PGA Tour in 2025. He's ranked first in total strokes gained, including 1st SG: Off-the-Tee, 10th SG: Putting, and 19th SG: Approach. McIlroy is also fourth in scrambling, eighth in putting average and first in scoring average.
McIlroy is +650, making him the second outright favorite behind only Scottie Scheffler. McIlroy's approach game has improved drastically in 2025. If he can continue putting well at Augusta National, the tournament is his to lose.
COLLIN MORIKAWA (+1800) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best Masters odds
Collin Morikawa has been rock solid at Augusta National since 2022. He's carded three straight top-ten finishes and was in contention last season, recording a T3 finish.
In 2025, Morikawa has a pair of runner-up finishes and ranks second in total strokes gained. He's 1st SG: Approach, 12th SG: Off-the-Tee, and first in hole proximity. Morikawa is fourth in driving accuracy and hits greens in regulation at 71.3 percent, ninth-best on the PGA Tour.
The only knock on Morikawa is his inability to finish a tournament with a lead. We saw it happen late at the Arnold Palmer Invitational a few weeks ago. This is a perfect opportunity for Morikawa to change the narrative and silence critics with a career-defining win at Augusta National.
JOAQUIN NIEMANN (+3500) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best Masters odds
Joaquin Niemann's been dominating at LIV Golf this season. His team, Torque GC, has two outright wins, with Niemann ranking as LIV's top golfer through five events.
Niemann is finding greens in regulation at 72.2 percent, seventh in putting average (1.58), third in birdies (70), and fifth in driving distance (317.8 yards) this season. The Chilean golfer has carded a T16 finish at the Masters in 2023 and a T22 finish in 2024.
At 35-1 odds, it's worth sprinkling a 0.25 unit wager on Niemann to stay hot tee-to-green. He'll leverage his putting ability to climb the leaderboard for a chance to claim the outright win at Augusta National this week.
RUSSELL HENLEY (+5500) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best Masters odds
Georgia native Russell Henley was able to jump Collin Morikawa at the Arnold Palmer Invitational with a clutch eagle chip on the 16th hole in the final round to break a three-year win drought. Henley is gearing up for a return to the Masters, where he's recorded three top-20 finishes and a solo fourth-place finish in 2023.
Henley, statistically speaking, should have a great week at Augusta National. He's ranked sixth total strokes gained, including 22nd SG: Approach, 19th SG: Putting, 11th driving accuracy, and third at finding greens in regulation. Henley is also sixth for proximity, 10th putting average, and fifth in scoring average this year.
At 55-1, we're obligated to stake a 0.10 unit wager on Henley to pull off the outright win for 5.5 units of profit.
