Florida vs. Houston Same-Game Parlay

Leg 1: Walter Clayton Jr. 6+ Assists

This is an unconventional way to start a same-game parlay, but let’s head to a nice plus money prop to start. Walter Clayton Jr. has been the star of the tournament, leading Florida in back-to-back comeback wins over Texas Tech and Auburn (64 combined points).

But rather than backing his scoring in the National Championship, I’m looking toward his playmaking and facilitating. Houston’s defense is elite at forcing the ball out of the opposition’s best playmaker. They hard hedge off picks and pack the paint – forcing quick perimeter passes and catch-and-shoot 3s.

Clayton is going to have the ball in his hands on every possession. While he’s still going to play a key role as a scorer, I also expect his potential assist numbers to take a hefty leap up. In general, the Cougars are 317th in A/FGM and allow nearly 45% of all attempts from the perimeter.

Florida is not afraid to let it fly from 3, and we’ve seen Clayton develop as both an elite shotmaker, but strong passer as well. He was eighth in SEC play in assist rate and has 6+ assists in 41% of his games since UF’s first win at Auburn in early February.

Houston’s defense is elite and we’ve seen them stunt college basketball’s best along this NCAA Tournament run. But we’ve also seen some gaudy assist numbers from opposing point guards. Braden Smith had 15, and Zakai Zeigler assisted on 33% of all field goals made.

The Gators offense is an engine and their ability to stretch the floor should play perfectly into Clayton racking up potential assists. All it comes down to is converting.

Leg 2: Will Richard 15+ Points

This goes hand-in-hand with the reasoning for Clayton Jr. racking up potential assists. While he has not been shooting the ball well of late, positive regression could very well come in a big way for Richard.

The 6-foot-4 senior plays 30+ minutes per game because of his defensive prowess and physicality. But he also is a good 3-point shooter. While he’s 0-for-5 in his last two, Richard shot 37.5% in SEC play.

He is the perfect complement to Clayton Jr., mainly serving as a catch-and-shoot guard, and could very well see 5+ attempts from 3 tonight. And if he starts out hot, don’t be surprised to see him keep firing.

While he has struggled, this 15-point mark is not a needle in the haystack for Richard. Entering tonight’s game, Richard has finished with 15+ points in 7-of-12 (58%).

As mentioned earlier, Houston allows nearly 45% of all shot attempts to come from the perimeter. Getting the ball out of Clayton’s hands means more opportunities for Richard and Alijah Martin, among others. I’m willing to take a stab here at Richard in a buy-low opportunity. It also helps juice the parlay up in a perfect second-leg complement to Clayton’s alt 6+ assist prop.

Leg 3: Milos Uzan Over 11.5 Points

I’m going back to the well here with Milos Uzan after I couldn’t be more wrong against Duke. Foul trouble kept him off the floor for the majority of the first half, but it was the LJ Cryer on full display as the Cougars roared back to upset the Blue Devils.

Let's zag here with Cryer’s points prop becoming increasingly popular and the number rising higher and higher. Uzan has been particularly quiet the last couple of games, but this is a player who has scored 12+ points in 14 of his last 22 (64%).

Similar to Houston looking to shut off Clayton Jr. as much as possible, I expect the same thrown at Cryer. That means someone needs to step up for the Cougars – and Uzan is more than capable.

Uzan has become an excellent 3-point shooter this season (44%) and is more than capable of creating on his own. Tack on his physicality and quickness attacking downhill, and I’m expecting enough volume out of the third-year guard to score 12+ in the national championship.

Florida’s defense wants to force the opposition into isolation (35th in A/FGM), and its height should pose as a problem for J’Wan Roberts. All signs are pointing toward Uzan having to step up here.

Florida vs. Houston Same-Game Parlay (+1308) (Bet $100 to Collect $1408)

  • Leg 1: Walter Clayton Jr. 6+ Assists
  • Leg 2: Will Richard 15+ Points
  • Leg 3: Milos Uzan Over 11.5 Points
