20:00 Saturday

It’s Super Saturday in the Guinness Six Nations, with the final round of matches taking place at some of the most iconic venues in international rugby.

The curtain comes down on the 2024 Six Nations with one of the sports most iconic games as France take on England in the game known simply as ‘Le Crunch’.

Both sides have a very slim chance of the title, which hinges on the result of the Ireland and Scotland game, but in truth it is a game where both sides are probably playing for second place (if you think as I do that Ireland beat Scotland to secure back-to-back Six Nations titles).

France vs England Prediction

France start the game as heavy 4/9 favourites, with a -6 start on the handicap. England haven’t won in France since 2016 and can be backed at a best price of 9/4 on Betfair, with the draw available at 25/1 – and we’ve already seen one of those this tournament.

This will be a fascinating clash given what we have seen so far in the tournament. France have really spluttered their way through with Fabien Galthie constantly tinkering with his combinations (some of which has been injury enforced). For a large portions they have looked blunt and fairly ineffective when compared with the side we’ve seen for the last four years.

I think the key match up here is the England attack against the Shaun Edwards defence, which has been leakier than we are accustomed to. Can Steve Borthwick’s side find that same speed of ball and physicality in the carry they enjoyed against Ireland, or will it be a performance riddled with errors like we saw against Scotland?

And how both sides utilise their bench will be crucial. Les Bleus rolled on the big guns against Wales in round four and just ground them down to make the scoreline more flattering than the game suggested. If England can survive the initial onslaught and then weather the storm from the bench, they could put themselves in position for a famous win.

France vs England – Six Nations Betting Tips

George Furbank Anytime Tryscorer – 4/1 on bet365

Since coming into the side a couple of weeks ago, Northampton fullback George Furbank has really sparked the England attack into life.

His pace and handling ability from the back bring something different to the strengths offered by Freddie Steward – and it has really had an impact with ball in hand.

He has also shown a he can hit the line and score tries, crossing the line in the games against Scotland and Ireland. The previously stingy French defence has been exploited on several occasions this tournament and I think Furbank can exploit it again on Saturday evening.

At a best price of 4/1 on bet365, he’s cracking value to score anytime.
