Overrounds, also known as 'bookmaker's margin', refer to the built-in profit margin that a bookmaker includes in the odds they offer on a betting market. It ensures that the bookmaker makes a profit regardless of the outcome.
In a fair betting market (without a bookmaker's margin), the total implied probabilities of all possible outcomes should add up to 100%.
However, bookmakers adjust the odds so that the total implied probabilities exceed 100% - this extra percentage is the overground. The higher the overround, the greater the bookmaker’s edge, and the closer they are to 100%, the more value there is to the bettor.
BetVictor and Ladbrokes Complete the Top Three Most Generous Bookies for Cheltenham
While AK Bets provided the most value to its customers with overrounds of 123.1%, BetVictor and Ladbrokes were not far behind.
BetVictor came in second place with average overrounds of 123.9%. Ladbrokes came in third with 125.8%.
