Golfers to Watch Ahead of The Masters 2025
Jordan Spieth - Valero Round 1: T4, -5
It’s early, but Spieth looks primed for a big return to The Masters.
Spieth’s history at the event is impressive, but the past several years have been marred by inconsistency. Spieth finished T3 in 2021, missed the cut in 2022, T4 in 2023, and missed the cut in 2024. He’s played three straight weeks, looking to build momentum heading into The Masters.
While a strong finish at Valero isn’t a guarantee for Masters’ success, Spieth’s overall recent form definitely looks stronger than 2024, and if he can remain strong through the weekend, he’s an intriguing play for next week. He also has extra incentive after a recent snub from the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Current Masters’ Outright Winner Odds: +3500
Tony Finau - Valero Round 1: T12, -3
Perhaps it’s wishful thinking, but is it finally Finau’s time?
Finau is no stranger to success on the tour, but we’re still waiting for him to capture that elusive major championship. He’s come close, specifically at The Masters with three Top-10 finishes.
Finau had a rough start to the year, missing cuts at both the Sentry and AmEx, before settling down with several strong performances. The issue with Finau isn’t necessarily his overall performance, it’s the nuanced struggles, particularly with putting and approach. However, his distance has been fine. Pay attention to Finau’s short game this weekend to get a feel for his Masters’ form.
Current Masters’ Outright Winner Odds: +7500
Ludvig Aberg - Valero Round 1: T43, -1
He’s young. He’s on fire. And, his game fits The Masters course to a tee (pun intended).
Outside of a slight underperformance in strokes gained around the green and just missing the cut at The Players, Aberg’s 2025 has been excellent, including a recent win at The Genesis. In his 2024 Masters debut, Aberg finished second to Scottie Scheffler, and a major win feels inevitable for Aberg.
The 2025 Masters is the perfect place for Aberg to kickstart a potentially elite career.
Current Masters’ Outright Winner Odds: +1800
Other golfers to watch:
- Daniel Berger (-2): Berger is no stranger to strong performances at The Masters, but it’s been a while. Can his excellent recent form carry over to Masters’ success?
- Keegan Bradley (-1): Bradley has excellent recent form, yet to miss a cut in 2025. He has a solid course history at The Masters, but has never cracked the Top-20.
- Justin Rose (E): Rose has a strong history at The Masters, but is a true boom-or-bust player who can finish T2 or a wild missed cut on any given weekend. Could a strong week push him to a top-5 finish?
- Akshay Bhatia (+2): Rough start to Valero, but his overall recent form has been very strong, and he’s an excellent course fit for The Masters.
